About Us

Dear Stepping Stones Families,

I hope that you had a restful summer break. Last year, I had the opportunity to learn and work with a fantastic staff at Stepping Stones. Previously, I worked as one of the assistant principals at Alamogordo High School, and prior to that, I taught for 18 years in the district. This year, I have the opportunity to continue my work with Stepping Stone's staff and families and begin a new learning opportunity as the principal of North Elementary.

The staff at Stepping Stones is excited to have our previous students return, and we welcome our new students! To prepare your student for a lifetime of learning and curiosity, our staff will help develop students' social, emotional, physical, and academic needs.

Teachers use information from multiple sources (assessment data, on-going observations, student interest, IEPs, etc) to create weekly lesson plans which are aligned to New Mexico Early Learning Guidelines. They are required to participate in bi-weekly session with a practice-based coach. Furthermore, administrators, teachers, and educational assistants must attend professional development throughout the year to help maximize students' learning. Our preschool staff is dedicated to making education a team effort for quality improvement and creating a positive learning environment which will enhance students' skills and knowledge.

Please take a few minutes to explore the other pages on this site. You will find other pertinent information as we begin a new school year. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Respectfully,

Debra Rottland
